Plants 4 Less
Alex Eremita recognized the need to better service small and mid-size landscapers. He founded his first company, Plants 4 Less, to fulfill this demand. Starting and learning this business came with help from his brother-in-law, Rick Borges who had been working at a large Local Nursery for-more than 20 years.
Beech Nursery West Schomberg
In a bold move to expand customer reach, Alex brought General Manager and Purchaser, Rick Borges on board to spearhead the start of a wholesale nursery, and this is where Beech Nursery West was born. With Rick’s extensive background in horticulture, the company was able to secure top-quality plants at competitive prices. Beech Nursery West quickly grew, enabling the team to serve larger projects and industry partners while staying true to the company’s commitment to high standards and superior customer service.
Tree Production Underway
Building on the momentum, the team initiated full-scale tree cultivation with the long-term goal of operating as a self-sustaining nursery. This involved expanding growing facilities, enhancing cultivation techniques, and formulating a production team.
Purchased Hall Tree Farms in King Township
To meet the need for more growing space, 100 acres of prime land was secured through the purchase of Hall Tree Farms. This well-known and established mature tree farm, along with its spading operation, became part of the newly formed Beech Nursery Group.
Expanding Tree Production
To ensure long-term sustainability, operations were expanded across multiple local farms. With the team planting over 5,000 trees annually.
Container Growing Commenced
With the addition of Head Production Grower and Quality Control Manager Brian Garvin, container production was launched. Bringing over 20 years of experience in container plant cultivation, he played a key role in expanding operations.
Integration
In 2024, Beech Nursery West expanded its polyhouse container growing space by 30,000 square feet. Additionally, Hall Spading operations were fully integrated into Beech West, creating a seamless, one-stop shop for wholesale customers.
Rebrand
With the integration complete, it was time to rebrand. Beech Nurseries was officially launched, at the 2025 Landscape Ontario Congress Show.
Rick Borges

Rick Borges is the co-founder of Beech Nurseries and a seasoned horticulture professional with over 30 years of experience. As Head of Purchasing and General Manager, he is passionate about sourcing high-quality plant material and overseeing growing operations. His expertise and dedication have been instrumental in shaping Beech Nurseries into a trusted name in the industry.
Vidhi Verlekar
Sales & Operations
Vidhi Verlekar joined the team in 2024 as Rick Borges' Sales & Operations Coordinator and quickly demonstrated her expertise and dedication. With a BCom and MBA in International Business from India, along with specialized training in supply chain and project management from Mohawk College, Vidhi brings a wealth of knowledge and precision to her role. Passionate and detail-oriented, she plays a key role in streamlining operations and supporting sales to ensure seamless service and exceptional results.

Ben Gallagher Mitchell joined Beech Nurseries in 2015, starting at the Toronto location watering plants before advancing to the Leading the Landscape Crew. While gaining hands-on experience, Ben studied Environmental Science at the University of Guelph. Transitioning into a Outside Sales Representative in early 2024, Ben is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and solutions to clients.
Andrew Fellin

With eight years of experience in the industry, Andrew Fellin began his career in landscaping, focusing on tree care and planting for residential and commercial properties. He studied at the University of Guelph as well as Conestoga College. Combining his hands-on expertise with a passion for horticulture, Andrew joined Beech Nurseries three years ago. As an Outside Sales Representative, he is dedicated to providing clients with expert guidance, exceptional service, and tailored solutions for their landscaping needs.

Michelle is a seasoned horticulturist with 25 years of experience in the landscape horticulture trade. As a Sales Associate at Beech Nurseries for the past 10 years, she possesses expert knowledge in plant identification. Michelle studied Horticulture at Humber College and remains passionate about sharing her expertise to support thriving landscapes.

Jonsy Khunt

Jonsy’s love for horticulture comes naturally, having been mentored on her father's farm from a young age. She holds a degree in Horticultural Science and furthered her education at Seneca Polytechnic in Landscape Design. Joining the team in August 2024, Jonsy brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and hands-on experience to the organization, contributing to the success of every project.
Brian Garvin
Growing Operations
Brian Garvin has been dedicated to nursery container production since 2003, beginning his career in crew supervision at a large nursery under the mentorship of experienced growers. Over time, he took on key responsibilities in growing deciduous shrubs, broadleaf evergreens, and conifers. In 2021, he earned his Horticulturist Certificate with distinction from the University of Guelph. Since joining Beech Nurseries in 2022 as Head Production Grower and Quality Control Manager, Brian has led his team in managing the production of both field-grown and containerized crops, ensuring the highest standards of quality and growth.
Luke Borges

Luke Borges joined the business in 2019, following in his father’s footsteps with a passion for horticulture and a dedication to quality. A graduate of Niagara College’s Horticulture Technician program in 2019, Luke brings both expertise and a hands-on approach to overseeing tree production, maintaining the highest standards as Production Supervisor.
